Stewards of the Earth
Stewards of the Earth evolved from Faith Connection’s “Voices of the Faithful” program, meant to highlight the many perspectives of different faiths about their role in public discourse and action on behalf of peace and unity. Beyond this, what is their position regarding how to address societal problems that affect all of God’s children. Stewards of the Earth became a core program after discovering four years ago that environmental stewardship was a major interest of those participating in the work of Faith Connection.
Our 2024 event is titled “Birds, Bees, and Butterflies” on Saturday, April 20, 4:30 pm at Martin Marietta Park and will include speakers, activities, and awards for winners in the student contest, who have been invited to submit posters and videos that explore who our pollinator friends are, why we are losing them, and how we can invite them home.

Racial Reconciliation
Racial Reconciliation began when Faith Connection, thanks to funding from the Bates Foundation produced a video series titled, “Conversation on Racism and Racial Equity”, where local residents of varied races, ages, genders and views shared their feelings and concerns on this topic. This series will eventually be shown at a public forum where members of our local community will be invited to come and share their views on this issue in an open and non-judgmental atmosphere. The series of conversations will also be shared with area churches and available on You Tube.
In addition, Faith Connection has brought together leaders from local houses of worship and facilitated a “Pastors’ Collaboration” to discuss the issue of racial inequity in New Bern and Craven County. We also host a quarterly “Pastors Breakfast”
